Kabu
They were brave men who fought and died in a misconcieved enterprise that was doomed from the start...

I hadn't realised it was Anzac day, but should have done so. Thank God for all those forces who helped us out.

the Australian & N.Z. forces certainly had their hands full, Kabu...
They actually fought in almost two separate W.W.2's, one against Germany and one against Japan...I didn't realize until recently that Japan actually attacked Australia during the war....

Indeed they should be remembered. Thanks for your visit.

I am a little confused, Kabu, about the objectives of this March.... if it
is meant to remember the ones that died in war and conflicts, can't we just go some steps ahead and question the very genesis of these conflicts and challenge them. Then we would do something to make sure conflicts never recur. I know it's not as simple as I write it, but mustn't we make a beginning somewhere?

Some things should never be forgotten so that perhaps next time we can find a better way

Why do these things bring a mist to my eyes,
sons not mine, grandfathers not related, who as boys who answered the call to arms? Perhaps its age, but I was never sentimental about such things until my grandson took on the job. And I was there when soldiers with grim distance behind their eyes came back from WWII, when my older brother and my cousins took off their uniforms and put on civvies for good, when the guys grinned about a limp and switched the subject to their buddies or girls they'd kissed. Hats off for Anzac day. A prayer for the dead and those left behind. Plant the flowers, fly the flag. Peace be with you.

Pride and grief - an appropriate description for such a day. I wonder...does the youth there realize the importance? Or is it like here, where the majority of the younger set tend to disregard the sacrifices made by our grandfathers' generation?

I will sure to light a candle for those who were brave and gave their life for the country. I love the Easter card! Bless you both!

I think that is such a lovely tribute. One we are so neglegent about. Once we had our parages now people want to ignore the military. I honor all who are and have fought in a conflict for our country. God bless you two dear people. xoxoxoxo

Lest we forget
Have just returned from long morning where daughter marched and there was a ceremony that was a lot for littllies to take in. My brother supervises a game of two-up at a pub each year. Did you receive my mail a few days back that touched on this day?
