ave to agree, he was the devil! How utterly selfish he seems to be; or it could just be about control! I know I would have retreated to myself and dreamed of returning home to where I knew a special peace amid the violence as you did! It will be interesting to hear how you come to terms with your vow to return home! You are still young but I believe one can foster their perceptions and thus make their dreams come to fruition or abandon them as the maturity brings about new quests! And I am very excited to read your poem when it is completed! sam

How terrible and as a kid faced with all of this, you tend to look for comfort zone. Well done Tzippy.

Tzippy
You really describe your despair so well! And one also realizes  there's no end in sight for you at that time - the dream 'to return home' is destined to remain a dream...

I never know the path.....
your journey is going to take us......but the  plate is always filled with an entree of  foreboding electricity.....and a side  composed of an unending procession of dropping shoes.

The dark people of this world can find terrible sins in the lightest of amusements and make war zones seem desirable in their own way.  It is sad that one bad situation can lead to another.

So sad it is when the home cannot be seen as a safe place to be with the devil as you call him and the filth that was around.

After reading just this little teaspoon of misery from your pool of it,
I'm thinking maybe it wasn't so bad after all that my dad stayed away after the war and left Mom and the three of us to fend for ourselves.
