Tzippy, your story is so very important. The hate and rage must stop.

Re:
Indeed. Sunshine and fresh air has never failed to make my day. I don't know how will my days be if they're gone forever. For now, I just make sure that even in my busiest day, I have spent some quiet quick time just feeling the warmth of the sunshine all over my skin and slowly breathing in the fresh air.

Quite an experience that would be difficult for anyone to copyright that hasn't lived what you did

Sunshine and fresh air are such wonderful gifts that we often take for granted and don't really appreciate until we know where they are but cannot have them for one reason or another.

My dear, go for it.. I would love to see it published too and yeah, I believed you should copyright your work... But you have given to them, haven't you? Anyway, thanks for the visit and those encouraging words you wrote.. *Hug*

Tzippy, as usual this is excellently written and I could feel the fear of a child. Your quote of today being a gift is very true given all that you have gone through. Thanks so much for your visit.

Your Question
After 9/11 I will say that no, we do not have a choice. I do feel though that we do not operate the wars well, the second of which (Iraq) is highly debateable as to whether going there was necessary. Now we got the Iran situation, and from the way its looking we're going to let him push us to having to use force.

OF COURSE YOU HAD COURAGE AND YOU WERE STILL ONLY A BABY
YOU STILLHAVE THAT COURAGE....I BELIEVE ALL YOUR FRIENDS HERE ADMIRE YOU AND WOULD LOVETOSEETHIS STORY ON FILM. IT HAS AN ANNE FRANK FEEL ABOUT IT. AND TURNING TEN IN SUCH A SITUATION ...WHY EVEN AS OLD AS I AM...I CAN STILL REMEMBER THE THRILL OF REACHING DOUBLE DIGITS.

Then I think of all you lived through -  and of this particular memory you write of, your innocence and youth surfaces with all that is going on 'round you and yours...your want for celebration - for some nurturing attention and for the freedom of fresh air.  Elyse

Adding mine also, Dear Tzippy...
Though I disagree about "no courage" - you had and do have mountains of it. Such a story for the world to read will be inspiring to the nth degree and with prayer and hope, maybe even give pause to those who have the decisions of hatred and violence in their hands, blood on their hands..
And a child shall lead them..

I will add my voice to the chorus
You really should publish this, but I would always get copyright before passing my work to somebody else... that way you have no reason for mistrust

I could feel the need to go up and have a look at light and fresh air! I do understand being stifled! How awful to have to be in a shelter when a birthday is coming and to be so very young! It had to be difficult to comprehend the gravity of it all. These experiences although disheartening at the time serve to give one more grit and determination throughout life! As far as the copyright is concerned, follow your gut and go forward. I believe the publication of this account is worthy and should be pursued if you are so inclined. Human interest stories seem to do well when they are ingenious and this one is certainly among the top ones I have come across! I wish you all the best regarding the avenue you ultimately decided to travel. Just a final thought, publication may help many folks to understand their own precarious situations and perhaps will aid in their healing, too! sam

Under copyright law, the proof's on your hard drive for the date you

write something. If you're worried use the "save as" function when you edit, so the original date isn't replaced by the update.

Other ways: you can confirm your manuscript's existence by  emailing a copy to yourself, save it in a folder. (and on Blogit, it's automatically dated) BC (before computers) they recommended printing a copy and mailing it to yourself -- the postmark on the unopened envelope is proof.  You can type the "copyright 2010: all rights reserved" blurb on the cover page if you want, but it's so easy to copy and paste anything on the computer, if someone wants to plagiarize your stuff that disclaimer won't stop them. If they sell your work, you can take them to court and prove it's yours.

Tzippy........
I have been reading your narrative of your childhood and find myself looking for each new installment.  Here in the states it's hard for us to grasp the terror  you were exposed to on a daily basis.....God help us if it were to ever rear its ugly head here.

Tzippy, your stories of the shelter hold a quality of gravitas that most of us live our entire lives and never experience.  You have enriched us all.

I wonder how I would be
in such a situation.  I, like Kabu, have never experienced life in a war zone, only read about it, but I think it does us all good to read such accounts, spreads awareness and stimulates empathy. I just wish humans could stop making war zones.

This brings out well what it takes to be in a war or war-like situation
and bunched with other people
