Comments on Amy Winehouse Wins How Many Grammys?

You know, Spitfire, I've made the comment that Winehouse is a freaking
drag queen to a few people.  Glad I'm not the only one who sees a that Winehouse is estrogen-challenged.  Hell, she only left rehab FOF THE GRAMMYS.  How ridiculous is that?  Why didn't she just do it from the rehab?  Lend some credibility to her crap?  Is it me, or am I the only one who sees the dark humorous irony in her being a rehab addict who will probably only be remembered for singing a stupid, atonal, offbeat protestation of going there?  I don't mean to enjoy someone else's pain, but I find this person of exceptional stupidity bordering on the impossibly pathetic...

Saul,
I couldn't name one of her songs and besides, she looks like a man, no? Come on...look at her (him??) And yeah, you're right about the grammy thing. And, from what I heard, she left rehab to go to the grammy's and then went back in. I didn't watch them but I did see clips and it seems as if she was pretty defiant about the whole rehab process anyway. Ah, she'll be one of the statistics anyway at the rate she's going.

Music to ponder over... hmmm... what a concept, Hdiddle. Do you listen to
progressive music by people like Porcupine Tree, Yes, Ozric Tentacles, Dream Theatre, etc.  Perhaps new age music, like Phillip Glass, Maurice Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Craig Chaquico?  Classical?  I listen to everything myself (can you tell?) and I know what I can't stand...

It just proves to me that there aren't enough "thinkers" in the world...
Otherwise meaningful music that requires some sort of thought would be popular.

Imbecilic if you ask me, Hdiddle...

I like Kid Rock myself, Corbin. He's a breath of reality in a packaged
product that reeks of insipidness.  I love the fact that Herbie Hancock shocked everyone when he won.  Why?  He was one of the finalists.  I wonder how many of the people who voted for him were "shocked."  I bet no one was more shocked than he was...

Don't know any 'sane' people, Naut. I don't watch the Grammys. I just
read about Winehouse's wins and felt disgusted by it.  I haven't watched the Grammys in since Quincy Jones won Album of the Year for an album no one had ever heard of (until he was nominated).  That was ... uh... twenty years ago?  Anyway, I don't bregrudge Jones his win because he's a great talent and producer, but I find so much of the Grammys too political and superficial...

Right you are, Spitfire. Kids reflect what they know; they emulate and do
as they see done.  Paris, Britney, Lindsey, Amy, that Chambers guy from "Grey's Anatomy", Keifer Sutherland, Downey, Jr., Mel Gibson, Ted Haggard, congressman Foley, ad nauseum.  Whatever happened to private treatment?  This crap has become just another part of the problem, not part of the solution...

I'm glad somebody agrees with me about this dumb song.

They're addicted to rehab, sam. As long as no one tells these glorified
walking a**holes "no", they'll continue to be media fodder...

Saul
Are you suggesting sane people are still watching the Grammys?

soul,
This all confuses me. I heard she came out of rehab just to be at the Grammy's. But, ya know what? Who cares. I can't even name one of her songs and I never watch the Stroke Me...I'm Rich & Famous Awards of any kind anyway. However, I must say, I think it is REALLY SHITTY of her to sing a song about "Anti-rehab" crap when not only is SHE IN rehab herself, but she's kinda promoting NOT going to rehab. Kids nowadays are really influenced by famous people and that is so not cool, IMO.

Isn't in and out of rehab the norm for these folks? They need to stay long enough to get a grip on their addictions.  sam
