The Captive

THE CAPTIVE In the valley far below, There is a child playing to and fro. In the cliffs high above, There is a hawk spying of. Around the corner is a castle, Which holds many lords and vassels. In this castle there is a king, Who wants the child to come and sing. Now as the hawk looks upon his prey, The child’s voice becomes an array. Soon the clouds start to darken As the magnificent bird is driven Towards that angelic voice, The child is brought despite any choice. The King is happy with his... Sign in to see full entry.
