The Myths and Miseries of Medieval Dining

If you rely upon Hollywood to educate you on the dining habits of those in period you would come away thinking that they ate a diet heavy in meats and fats, nearly devoid of vegetable matter, they were slobs, had no table manners whatsoever and treated the poorer classes like swine. This is what it... Sign in to see full entry.

The Name Game

I did not follow my own advice. I have been playing under the name Brigid Ein Tiernan since my very first day. I had a... Sign in to see full entry.

Happy Birthday, Hidden Mountain!

The huge birthday celebration for our mountain and the investiture of our new Baron and Baroness, Thylacine and Adendra, went off without a hitch. And for me, it was a pretty big day too. I came to the event with a table full of jewelry to sell and gifts of jewelry to give. Baroness Adendra recieved... Sign in to see full entry.

Looking Forward to Hafla

Hafla is the party that the barony throws for the outgoing baron and baroness and ours is coming up the last weekend of this month. Unlike other events this is really more like a party. Members give gifts to the outgoing royalty, there is lots of singing and story telling (the bigger the story the... Sign in to see full entry.

The Barony has choosen its new leaders

You know, every time I get disconcerted with the politics of either my mundane life or my SCA life something happens to surprise me. Mistress Adoh Adendra Marland and Baron Thylacinus Aquila of Dair Eideand have been elevated to the post of Baron and Baroness of the Barony of Hidden Mountain.... Sign in to see full entry.

The other side of the SCA - Meetings, Meetings, and more meetings

Don't get me wrong, I love everything abou the SCA but the meetings can be nerve wracking. If you are joe shmo populous its pretty cool to be there and add your two cents but I am nuts. I hold two Canton offices and a baronial office. I have to have something to say even if I have nothing to say.... Sign in to see full entry.
