What really happened overnight

As I mentioned earlier today, the current Mayor Daley (Richard M, that is) had a press conference to announce that Meigs Field was closed (and its runway ripped up) for security reasons. Mayor Daley felt that those airplanes at Meigs Field posed too high a security risk on the lakefront; he had been... Sign in to see full entry.

Under Cover of Darkness

Many of you play computer games and use other programs involving Meigs Field - Chicago's small-aircraft airport. It's been a prominent feature on our lakefront for at least as long as I can remember. Well, folks, it seems as if Mayor Richard M. Daley - yes, you read right: the son of the infamous... Sign in to see full entry.

Sex and whatever and writing-advice posts :) LOL

I noticed just now that for the first time in I don't know how long, this blog and one of my others - I am here and I am not silent - are in the Top 20 here on The Blogging Network. Although it should go without saying, I have to say it, anyway - I'm glad. It means more money in my pocket, and I've... Sign in to see full entry.

Now, wait just a (bleeping) minute, here

Originally, when I first tried to start this post, I had wanted to post about my cats. I've been reading a lot of animal-rights material lately, so I've had a good chance to think about their perspective on the issue of pet ownership. The problem is that I've been exposed only to their perspective.... Sign in to see full entry.

Observations on having an invisible disability

In I am here and I am not silent, I observed that the domestic-violence article was not the reason to buy Everything You Know Is Wrong. I've come up with one very good reason to do so - and that's an article contained within its pages, on disabilities. Postcard From the Planet of the Freaks is a... Sign in to see full entry.

National Nutrition Month

OK, I know that this is not a big deal to most people, but for me, it has been. March is National Nutrition Month. It's actually a publicity device used by the American Dietetic Association to get people to think about nutrition; no government agency has made any sort of declaration stating that... It's off to see the doctor, the wonderful Doctor of Oz

Well, I get to go to what my cat Garfield would call the evil vet man today, for this sinus infection I've had seemingly since Hector was a pup. If I don't post for several days, there will be a good reason why - the evil vet man has decided to perform some sort of voodoo ministration or other in... Sign in to see full entry.

Thanks, BobbieO

Like BobbieO, I depend on blogging to make some money off my writing. I'm in one of those states where if I get rejected by too many editors, I know I'll take it wrong. Here, on the other hand, I'm pretty much free to write as I wish (as long as I don't go insulting other people in the process or... Sign in to see full entry.

Oh, GROW UP, already, for crying out loud

Dr. Frank Pittman is a psychiatrist who does a lot of family therapy. I will use the short form of the title of his latest book - Grow Up. Apparently, it's selling well, for good reason. Grow Up really does give Dr. Pittman's ideas about how grownups behave. Most of those ideas are relatively sound;... Sign in to see full entry.

Death By Sunset

Just last night, I was watching the TV-movie adaptation of Ann Rule's Death By Sunset. It's the type of story Rule apparently likes to do best (information which I found out by perusing her website ). Brad Cunningham (portrayed by Ken Olin in the movie) is married to attorney Cheryl Keeton (Annette... Sign in to see full entry.
