I'M FREE!

I've lost track of the number of workouts I've done. My body is tightening up and bouncing back. My legs feel strong, and I was losing the ability to stand or walk; my right knee was popping and the tendons were slipping out of place. I'm in the vecinity of 21 workouts in 28 days. My oldest daughter... Sign in to see full entry.

Dieting with My Kids -- Aghhhhhh!

I napped while the girls went to class (math, ugh); I awoke with their return two and a half hours later. They sent me to the store for Weight Watchers ice cream snackies. I entered the front of store and made my way through fields of trepidation: the donut holes, glazed donuts, caramel corn,... Sign in to see full entry.

The Gold Coast and Sequel The Gate House

Compulsively, I have read all the LeCarre portfolio, including his original short stories; my secret is that I have read Tailor of Panama at least thirteen times. He is quoted as saying, "...yes, I suppose I did a bit too well on that one." Of course it came to me in 1996, the year I became a single... Sign in to see full entry.

Reviewing: Middle Eastern turmoil on hold pending Obama Administration peace-making. Hillary over there talking fast and doing the diplomatic soft shoe: PROTOCOL, ALCOHOL & PEPTO BISMOL. Russia regaining self-image (brute) as the dollar sinks and the price of oil reaches $70. So, the outlying... Sign in to see full entry.

On Retirement: Pieces of April on a Morning in May

Today was the true test of a man's soul. One down and three days to go this week. Three days next week and summer starts. Summer for me marks my official retirement frmo public school teaching. I still have my license, so whether I continue to be called in will decide whether we eat next year. As... Sign in to see full entry.

I watched the Cards-Brewers Standoff: More like a Hostage Situation.

After three days of not working out, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, I went out to Grays' Lake today. It was sprinkling which discouraged the younger set. I went alone. Hood up, umbrella in hand, I proceeded on a brisk 40-minute walk. The last five minutes it was pouring cats and dogs. Haven't had that... Sign in to see full entry.

What We Have to Go Through to Be Worthy of Our Inflated Ego!

I watched the House Marathon today -- USA Network. Whatever you think, it is the smartest show on tv. Not just anatomy 101: psychoanalysis 101, and some classic psycho-sexual liaisons that at least inflate the envelope. Of course I tracked the MLB all afternoon. Yanks lost, Mets lost, Cubs lost, but... Sign in to see full entry.

Quote of the Day...

SCULLY: William Howard Taft served on the court after his presidency, would you have any interest in being on the Supreme Court? OBAMA: You know, I am not sure that I could get through Senate confirmation. C-SPAN Sign in to see full entry.

To Justi: Thanks for them Kind Words, My Li'l Chickadee!

I logged on to say good morning, and to remind those of you who miss me: "I'll be back!" And to introduce myself to those who do not know me. This is the last full week of school, and all credit to Alice Cooper for those immortal words. See you here every day, starting in a few weeks. Mike Sign in to see full entry.

QUALITY TIME Pt. 2

I continued this strand during home room, when I was asked to go cover for a teacher who called in sick. The students were busy, so I stood in the corner and Twittered it. A hard book I read this spring -- early spring - was The Knowledge Gap (2007) by E.D. Hirsch. It discusses a revolutionary... Sign in to see full entry.
