Keep going!

Just a note to keep the account open, and say Hi to anyone watching. Just back from the Dentist. Filling: £41. Money wise: things are OK, but not great. Putin has knocked everything back. But I have some other irons in the fire. They are gambling, and for very little odds, but I have to do something. If you were stuck in a dead-end job you would take a gamble, and I don't want to go back to that. Sign in to see full entry.

Cannot believe!

I cannot believe the stupid things Putin has done. With or without him, Russia is finished as a serious financial base. They will never be trusted again. To fall back on nuclear weapons as a threat is a cowardly way to run a country. I hope the Russian people have the guts to get rid of him. Clearly, the evil men were never toppled from the old days. What they needed was a Nuremberg trial like Nazi Germany, to rout them out and hold them to account for their crimes. Russia officially lost 25... Sign in to see full entry.

Wind! Here in the UK, the storms have swept across the countryside. We have escaped the worst of it, with just a few branches down. But several people have been killed, and it makes you grateful you don't live in somewhere like Oklahoma where storms really change lives. England lost over a thousand trees in the last year, but it makes me wonder who the country belongs to? Us or the trees? They were here long before us, and all we have ever done is cut them down. Tipp-Ex If you are of a certain age, and you grew up learning to type, you will know the power of this product. When I first began writing, I struggled with the typewriter. Old fashioned manual keys that hurt your finger and led to many mistakes. But Tipp-Ex was always there to save you. I would send off manuscripts to publishers that were full of white paint marks. It must have put another pound on the weight. Thank God they invented the word processer. Sign in to see full entry.

Withdrawal?

According to the BBC Putin has pulled back some of the troops from the border. Let's hope he had seen sense. I have to admit that once I saw the price of Oil and Gold, my cynical side came out. Have they conspired between themselves to fix the price? It would not be the first time, and Oil had recovered to make up all the losses from the start of the Pandemic. Since they gave up on Communism, the Russians are just in it for the money now. Sign in to see full entry.

Will they? Won't they?

With the growing threat of war over Ukraine, I'm amazed the rest of the world is not up in alarm. Sure, there is little we can do, a Putin is adamant that he wants to blow up the world, but here in the UK, most people could not care less. We will not send in troops to help, but it's a slippery slope. Chamberlin would not send troops to support the Sudetenland. One thing we will all see is higher prices. Russia is a major playing in oil prices, and although Saudi will step in the fill the gap,... Sign in to see full entry.

Rain!

It has finally rained here in the UK. We have not seen rain (real rain) for over a month, and for the middle of winter, that is worrying. But the other night it finally came. The garden is looking a little brighter, but the plants think it's Spring, and we are yet to face the worsted month. Sign in to see full entry.

Routine

I sometimes wonder if anyone is really interested in the routine and mundane things that go on in my life? I write in my personal diary things like: "Went for a walk. Helped Mum down the stables." But it's tough to get anyone else interested in such silly things. These are just routine things that I do around the house and are only noted down to help me remember what a dull life I now lead. Knebworth 1985

Saw this picture on a website and remembered when we went there to see Deep Purple. To be honest it was not my sort of music. A teenage thing really, but I was still caught up in the excitement of large festival gigs and so we went. A small gang of friends, who were mostly people I had gone to school with or let lodge in our house. It was muddy and wet, but not too bad. Although the bus did get so bogged down they had to bring in a tractor to dig us out, but not too bad. Most of the acts were... Sign in to see full entry.
