Sspace elevators! Witchflower got me thinking about something, and that's what is the cheapest and safest way into space? A rail link strait up. There was Russian scientist, whoes name escapes me now, that first put forward the idea. Of course Arthur C Clarke brought it to it's logical conclusion with his science fiction works.
