Spanking: What's the Point?

One of the questions that always arises when I discuss spanking with others is "What is the spanking supposed to do?" The simplest answer is that, like any consequence, it's supposed to deter unwanted behaviour. For example, children are always trying to touch hot stoves. I don't know what it is --...
