The word ‘paedophilia’ is classical Greek for ‘love of children’, hence a ‘ paedophile’ is a lover of children. But one is forced to ask; what manner of sick love will terrorize, torture, rape and murder a defenceless child? By referring to these monsters in human form as ‘paedophiles’, we soften the impact of what they do to; and we make ourselves accomplices in their monstrous acts.
