As we drifted up the Guadalquivir, I in my dream-like state, musing on the history of Spain, and Seville in particular, on one level of consciousness, I was aware of, and admired one of the bridges over the river. It was inspired by the Iron Bridge over the river Severn in Shropshire, England, having similar thick steel rings of varying diameter supporting the span.
