DADDY IN HIS SAILOR SUIT!

Here is a picture of my dad in his Navy uniform. That's his dog "Brownie" with him. This is one of the few photos that actually have a date. Well, a year anyway. (1945 He was home on leave) It also lists the location. I'm going to go see if that house is still there. Thanks for looking in! Have a... Sign in to see full entry.

DOES ANYONE KNOW?

How to preserve that little humming bird's nest. I would like to keep it. It reminds me of nightly walks with my mom. Up till now I've left it out on the patio. But it's getting colder and the wind has been blowing. Does anyone know what I can do to preserve it and maybe put it on display? Any help... Sign in to see full entry.

MOM AND OUR HUMMINGBIRD

Finding that hummingbird's nest the other day reminded me of the summer my Mom and I watched a hummingbird build her nest and raise two baby hummers in that tree. As a matter of fact this just might be the same nest. Every evening Mom and I would go out back and walk. Mom's Dr. had told her to get... Sign in to see full entry.

PLAYING WITH MATCHES!

Now here's a story my dad told me about him and his older brother: It seems that one afternoon after school the two of them found themselves home alone. Now there was no jumping on the beds or eating ice cream for those two---oh no! They found a box of matches and some old newspapers. Yeah, they... Sign in to see full entry.

WHEN DID I BECOME THE PARENT? (a repost)

When Dad had a TIA (that's a kind of a mini stroke) I came home to help out. It was kind of strange because Mom had always been the sickly one in the family. - So, slowly I took over the cooking, cleaning and making sure both parents took their pills and whatnot....Never trust a parent when they say... I FEEL BETTER

Back when my dad was sick I tried to help take care of him. Whenever he needed something he would call me. If I didn't hear, he would call my dog "Bo." Bo would bark and I would know Dad needed something. Sort of a doggie alarm system. Even when this woke me from a deep sleep I always came running.... Sign in to see full entry.

ADOPTING SKIPPER!

This is how mom and dad ended up adopting our first little dog, a beautiful black Cocker Spaniel they named Skipper. - It seems that when they got home from their honeymoon they stopped by my grandparents' house.. This was my mom's family. It was sort of a semi-farm they always called "The Place."... Sign in to see full entry.

MEMORIES OF DAD & MOM

I cleaned out my car yesterday and there was a old coffee cup with just a little coffee in it....I remember there was a cup like that in the car one time when I drove dad to a doctors appointment. I said to him, "I'll have to dump that coffee and throw the cup away." He replied, "If you add hot... Sign in to see full entry.

FATHER'S DAY MEMORIES!

Happy Fathers Day Dad! Now even this year I have seen something he would have loved. It's the 'Black and Decker' self adjusting wrench. Poor daddy could never get a wrench to adjust to the right size when trying to fix the bathroom drain. Mom, however knew just what to do. She called a plumber,... Sign in to see full entry.
