Christianity departed from the original teachings and intent almost from the beginning, and got farther away for over a millennium, and has not yet seen the precepts of the original, having been influenced for so long by the Medieval Church, which, by the way, is still medieval. The view we receive is from human perception that has constructed a religion much different from the original, derived from human opinions and definition of religion. The earliest construct of what we call Christianity begins centuries after the original event.
