I was born during WWII -- not a warbaby -- an illegitimate child, a bastard, if you will.
Wasn't reared by my biological mother, was adopted.
Yet it's the period in which I was born that has the most significance.
Sort of between the eras, the halfway point of the 20th Century.
Grew up with western movies and such. Started riding horses at age 3 or 4. Had relatives who farmed, spent much time on their farms and exploring hills and gullies and creeks.
Learned from my Dad turn of the century farming - lived primitively for about 4 years -- electricity and sometimes a phone were the only modern facilities -- had LP gas for a gas range' otherwise it was wood (Franklin type stove) heating and cooking along with the gas. Drew water from a well, used an outhouse -- from 61 through 64. I loved it.
Was sort of independent re: religion -- went to diverse Sunday Schools and Vacation Bible Schools. Was saved at a Baptist Chnurch. Got interested in an apocalyptic, adventist fundamentalist Christian sect, involved and baptised there.
Left.
Joined a mainline denomination.
Developed my views of religion independently, made the conscious decision to approach religion and philosophy independent of traditional Christianity.
I define my views through Christianity, although I do believe that "salvation" is universal, without religious affiliation.
