Observations at the Rink

I have always wondered why it is that parents feel the need to push their kids into doing EVERYTHING? Yesterday, while watching my kids at ice skating, I was observing a woman with her son, who looked like he was barely more then a year old or so. She was forcing him out onto the ice, even though he was crying and obviously terrified.
