From Millions to an Attic

One of my housemates was a professional athelete and made millions of dollars. He was young and stupid and spent most of it. Then after surgery and chronic physical pain, he relapsed and became a meth addict. Eventually with money gone, he got clean and is now living in our house until he can move... Happy Recovery Birthday, Dallas

Dallas is powerless over drugs and alcohol, a year ago today he surrendered. For a year he counted the days, and told us all how he did it. Sometimes his loud mouth was too much to bear, but as the days increased, he started saying something. Now he walks the talk and has a year clean. Thank you God... Sign in to see full entry.

Receptionist or Menu Options?

Whenever I call someone and encounter a receptionist rather than a menu, I am so relieved. Its even better when I can speak directly to the person I am calling. Phone tag is a phenenonal waste of time. Receptionists can sometimes be over protective of those they serve, but other times can interrupt... Sign in to see full entry.

Lance is the man.

My husband is not handy and neither am I. I want my curtain rods put up and Lance is willing to do it. He'll find time Sunday morning. Lance is one of our boarder. He likes to be asked to help out. He is very grateful that we took him in. We are still helping him with money. My husband purchased his... Sign in to see full entry.

Martin Luther KIng the man, versus, MLK, the superhero

I've been reading more about MLK's morals, behavior and theology. He didn't appear to be a very good guy. Then you read about the courageous things he did and said in the realm of civil rights and you see a very different type of man, a superhero. So which is he? Both. Sign in to see full entry.

Ward Churchill

I love people who tell the truth as they see it. They usually get hammered. My son was fired after he sent an e-mail to his boss telling her all the violations of confidentiality that the unit broke. He learned to be more judicious in his remarks after that. It is delicious thinking that you can... Sign in to see full entry.

Superheroes just do more of what heroes do in real life.

Last night I got a call on my cell phone at one in the morning. The caller had found my daughter's cell phone. This morning I noticed that I had missed several telephone calls from my daughter. So he must have decided to give it one more try before he went home. I suggeted her drop off the phone and... Sign in to see full entry.

The Bonus Army--Real Heroes

http://www.thebonusarmy.com/home.html http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4494446 After world war one, army veterans protested several times. They went to Washington and built camps. They always lost the legislation they promoted, but finally during World War 2, someone wrote down... Sign in to see full entry.

I have osteoporosis.

I'm only 54 and I have it. I am going to start taking Actonel. I cracked another rib yesterday, I was stretching to reach the floor of my car, to scrub it. I will need to start doing more weight bearing exercise. Walking is good. The only problem is that I broke another rib and can't do anything.... Sign in to see full entry.

Nothing wrong but everything

I do not have cancer, heart disease or alzheimers. What I have instead is fribromyalgia, a bad memory and weight too much. None of these will kill me, they will just make me wish i were dead. I will probably live to be one hundred whining all the way. There are a few people who live long and are... Sign in to see full entry.
