You are absolutely right. My son has learned some. Your analysis of the audience is correct. Sometimes, however, it is better to tell the truth and get fired or ostracized than to continue pretending things are okay.

The truth is no defense. I lost count, years ago, of the number or times that I have been through what your son went through. Hammer the lesson into his head. It will happen on almost a daily basis for the rest of his life. It doesn't happen only with employers, it can happen down to the totally individual level. The problem is, and the heated reaction a result of, a subconcious, knee jerk defensive response.
Why is the response always so heated? The person from whom it comes believes his own self deception, and must fight desperately to maintain that subconciously sensed deception..... JJ
