Any Mac Pros Out There?

Folks, I need some help. I am about to start putting together a book of my poetry and I'm not sure how to do it. You see, I want to illustrate the poems in Appleworks and save them in jpg form so no one can alter my work. Since I'm planning to sell them on CDs initally through my Cafe Press site, I want to put them in a format that is like a book so I'd like them to be all in one file but I'm not sure how to do that. My brother suggested that I save them in PDF format but I'm not sure how to do... Sign in to see full entry.

Family Memories

Recently, I've been thinking about writing a book or short stories combined into a book about some family memories and historical significance about members of my family. When Hurricane Katrina hit a year and a half ago, my family's homes were right in the path and we thought for a while that they'd all been destroyed. Fortunately, that wasn't so but ever since then, I've been thinking about all of the memories of Pascagoula and Gautier, MS and the history my Aunt Archie shared with me and I... What Would You Do With $20 Million?

The other day, Oprah Winfrey did a show on people who had suddenly come into large amounts of money and followed up to find out how they had used their money and what they had left. I wasn't exactly surprised to find out that many of them had spent either most or all of what they had. Some of these people had won or inherited millions of dollars and they had gone through most or all of it. The reason that they found themselves with so little of the money was because they never planned for it. Of... Sign in to see full entry.

What Are You Doing To Make Your Dreams Come True?

All of us have dreams of where we want to be a few years from now whether it is related to our careers, our families, our home or whatever. So, what are you doing to make your dreams come true? Do you have a plan of any kind to move toward where you want to go? Have you written it down? Tell me... Sign in to see full entry.

You Didn't Believe Me But...

I was right about homosexual activists trying to take freedom of speech from Christians. They are now demanding that General Pace resign or be fired because he exercised his right to freedom of speech! He stood up and spoke what he believed and because of it, the liberal media and homosexual activists are trying to force him out of his job. How long is the Christian community going to stand by and allow their freedoms to be stripped from them? Homosexuals do not have the right to have special... Sign in to see full entry.

Have You Ever Had A "Helen" Moment?

I don't know how many of you ever saw the movie "Same Time, Next Year" with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn but there is a part in the film when Alan Alda is describing something his wife, "Helen" did. They were at a dinner party for a client and when they started to leave, "Helen" accidentally walked into the closet instead of out the front door. Well, instead of coming right out when she realized her mistake, she stayed. Then her husband opened the door and she started laughing. She was about 8... Sign in to see full entry.

Why Is It?

Why Is It? whimsystoryteller (110) 9 minutes ago That when a conservative takes a stand on a moral issue that they are bigots and racists but when a liberal does the same thing, they are supposedly progressive? And, why do liberals feel the need to call people names who oppose them. In the past couple of years, there have been opposing views on the illegal immigration issue. Now, I have nothing against the Latino people. I have friends who are Latino. I have a problem with people breaking the... Sign in to see full entry.

Aren't People Funny?

We all seem to have our own little quirks about everything. I just read and posted a comment to a posting on another site about how they eat chips. What was funny is the way he described how he ate them because I realize I have a certain way of eating certain chips, too. Then, as I read comments, I found that some people from England had posted the fact that "chips" in England are more like our french fries. It was an interesting discussion because I wonder how many other quirks we have when we... Sign in to see full entry.

Another Attempt to Take Away Freedom of Speech

The City of New York has issued a ban on the word "Nigger." Now, I am not in favor of ever using that word. However, what the City of New York has done is UnConstitutional! We are still guaranteed freedom of speech in this nation and the City of New York cannot override the Constitution. I'm really getting fed up with people trying to dictate to me what I can and cannot say. Now, don't misunderstand, I don't call anyone that word because it's demeaning. However, what I have a real issue with is... Sign in to see full entry.

HR 254: Dangerous Legislation for Christians

There is a bill on the floor of Congress right now that will effectively take away freedom of speech for Christians who stand up for what the Bible says about homosexuality. In effect, the gay community is trying to force Christians to be silent about their sexual preferences. I, for one, will be standing up against this because it violates our rights to freedom of speech. I will be contacting the American Center for Law and Justice about this and I can promise that I won't shut up regardless of... Sign in to see full entry.

Complacency Can Kill You!

More and more people these days are complacent about life. They have no passion. They may get excited about something briefly but after a short time, they have forgotten all about it. No wonder there are so many divorces and parents who abandon their children. No one seems to have any consistency or stick-to-it in their character. This morning I got an email from a woman who is planning to go on a hike in the Rockies in Colorado in June on behalf of the Discover A Cure program designed to raise... Sign in to see full entry.

First Date Nerves

One of the members on myLot.com just posted a query about being yourself on a first date. He was asking for comments on this and I answered as follows: Sometimes, being yourself is a hard thing to do. There are a lot of people out there who don't know how to be themselves to begin with because they've spent their whole lives trying to be what others want them to be or trying to impress others. I think that the best way around that is to begin by beginning a friendship. Instead of a full-fledged... Sign in to see full entry.

Another Company Gives Away U.S. Jobs To Other Countries

I found out yesterday that Vonage has let go of their U.S. operators in favor of operators in the Philippines leaving several U.S. citizens without jobs. I don't know how you guys feel about that but I will not be using Vonage as a result. If companies start losing business because they use employees in other countries instead of our own citizens, then maybe they will reconsider what they are doing! This is costing our country big bucks. Not only does it mean more people on Unemployment but if... Sign in to see full entry.

God Makes Me Laugh...What About You?

From what I've read here on myLot, a lot of people are confused about God, His existence, His expectations of us, His relationship to us and whether or not He cares about us. Well, I've had a relationship with Him for 46 years and the one thing I can tell you is that God has a great sense of humor! Now, I realize that a lot of people don't believe that God can talk to people but I find that theory stupid. After all, if He was able to create us, why shouldn't He be able to talk to us? All I know... Sign in to see full entry.

Who Was Your TV Crush?

When I was growing up, my favorite program was "Hawaii Five-O" and I had a major crush on Jack Lord. Well, here it is many years later and I still enjoy "Hawaii Five-O" but something hit me this afternoon when I was watching. It wasn't Jack Lord that I had the crush on, though he was definitely a nice looking man, but it was his character, Steve McGarrett, that I really had the crush on. No matter how good looking any man is, if there isn't substance behind the looks, who cares? Steve McGarrett... Sign in to see full entry.

Are You Obsessed?

A couple of years ago, I joined a Yahoo Groups formed by people who like the show "Beauty and the Beast" with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. When I joined, I expected to find people like myself who enjoyed the show, or at least until they killed off Linda Hamilton's character, and had similar interests in other things. What I found was something very different. I found a group of people who are obsessed with this TV show to the point of it being unhealthy. They discuss different episodes and... Have You Got a Cause?

Yesterday, I received an email from someone about something special she and her husband are doing to raise money to fight Leukemia & Lymphoma. I am going to include her message below and then I have a question for you. From momofmaggie: My husband and I are going to the Rocky Mountains in June! Pretty cool, right? Here is the deal: We are hiking for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. We need to raise $8,000 by April 1st!!!! Each donation helps accelerate cures for... LET'S SAY I BREAK IN YOUR HOUSE!

A friend of mine sent me this and I think it's fabulous! Let's say I break into your house A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV. Her point: Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and,... Sign in to see full entry.

ALERT! ALL AMERICANS!

The House of Representatives is in the process of working on a bill regarding medical insurance that could have a large impact throughout the country and may affect you. I'm putting in the write-up from an email I received about it so that you can read it for yourself and determine how it may affect you. I didn't want to paraphrase it because I wanted to be sure you understood what can happen if this bill isn't drawn up and passed correctly. For those of you who are still planning to have... Addendum to post regarding Anna Nicole Smith

I've heard several statements from celebrities and others close to Anna Nicole Smith that now maybe she is at peace. Well, I truly hope that is true because everything in her lifestyle says she never considered her eternal life to be too important or what God thinks to be very important. If she did call out to God in the last moments of her life, then perhaps she is at peace but if the rest of her life is any indication to her final moments, that woman is far from at peace right now. And, I... Sign in to see full entry.
