Still Smoking...

I cannot believe I am still smoking. An honest assessment demands that I admit that I really have not decided to quit yet. I have decided to move in the direction of deciding to quit. When I decide, I will quit. So this column will soon be changing subjects. Any suggestions? Sign in to see full entry.

Smoking Cessation - A Major Victory

Yesterday, I had to ride my bicycle home from work. This is a 15 mile trip. It was cold and drizzly, but this kept me from becoming too overheated, so it was a blessing. But, the far greater blessing was that after I arrived home after two hours of aerobic activity, I did not WANT a cigarette and so... Sign in to see full entry.

I have to admit it's getting better

Yesterday I was able to go for LONG periods with no smoke just by saying no, not now. I am encouraged. I need to run my self programming lists more (see a previous post). That should help build the will and desire to quit. I am discovering that if it is only will that creates an action, inevitably,... Sign in to see full entry.

Still commited to quitting ... still smoking a bit

"So," I ask myself, "when is the 'cold turkey' day?" I smile knowing I have not yet reached the point where I really want to quit. I am thinking about all the rewards I have invested in smoking. For example, when I really am honest, I know that I like the feeling of heaviness that I feel in my lungs with that first morning smoke. Here are some more 'rewards' of smoking: I use it for taking a break It is soooo familiar I often... Sign in to see full entry.

What a hold nicotine has on me

Well, I am still not completely clean. I am down to 4 smokes per day. Plan is to get down to one.... then none. I am actually feeling very good about my progress and still have confidence that my quitting is for real. It is not how many times one fails that counts, but rather, how many times one... Becoming a non smoker is difficult

I cut way back, but attending a wedding this weekend where the bride (close friend of mine) smokes was too much, so being gentle with myself, I allowed for a few smokes. I return from Arkansas today and my intention is to be a non-smoker when I arrive home. I spend yesterday and the day before... Sign in to see full entry.

Day Two: Enjoing Breathing More and smoking less

I have definitely cut back on the number of cigarettes. I am taking moments to just enjoy taking a deep breath of fresh air. One more day until I cease altogether. I feel good about how it all goes. Sign in to see full entry.
