Reflections on the meaning of Shabbat...

I always approach Shabbes with a longing and yearning heart. One that wants the peace and the tranquility of the day and the positive times of prayer and just communicating on a wonderful spiritual level with my fellow humans. I leave Shabbat with nostalgia and longing for the next week to draw to a close and another perfect shabbat day. Shabbes is what keeps us spiritually alive through the next six days. I love shabbes as it brings us closer to G-d and allows us to reflect on our inner... Sign in to see full entry.

Good fences make safe primary schools!

I had the meeting today and the thing that came up was that they want to ensure the safety of my son and they were worried that he could go out of the school grounds. It started me thinking about the openness of most Victorian and indeed most Australian state schools. Times have changed and I am thinking that perhaps we should have high fences with childproof locks for the smaller kids like Preps and Grade Ones who may not have the commonsense that they need as far as stranger danger and going... Well interview with the principals of a school

and the regional office to put my son in a normal school with assistance. He has made good progress and will catch up despite what they say about him which is just a few ill informed judgmental people who have no hope of teaching hyper active and intelligent kids like my son. They go very well with the kids that sit passively and learn and do what they are told but as soon as they come up against someone a bit harder, they are at a loss. Wish me luck as I go in to do battle with these people. Sign in to see full entry.

Oh dear, dear dear the veneer of civilisation and tolerance is only

Skin Deep in some areas of the world. Quite disturbing really but then what else is new. As the ex wife of an African and the mother of a 'bi racial child' I know about this first hand. I prefer to think of my son as a person who embodies the best qualities of two races and who has great potential for many things in life. Some people's prejudice is horrifying - lucky we can expose it.... Sign in to see full entry.

Students with Special Needs in Schools – Inclusion or Exclusion?

___________________________________________________ In the average classroom world wide, there is at least one child or more with ‘special needs’. These needs will often be ignored, down played or poorly met because schools in this era of modern education and the ‘corporate school philosophy’ do not have the resources to assist these students adequately. They are the ‘exception’ to the ‘norm’ and rather than tailor the classroom pedagogy to meet the needs of a broader range of student ability,... Sign in to see full entry.

Some of us tread heavily

on flowers, thus growing there on the ground Crushing releases their sweet aroma Others tread so lightly they disappear without trace the last of their race The spirits dance ever on the prairie plains The wailing of their women and children Caught on the winds Released howling through the hollow hearts of those who came to lay waste and inhabit Their lands.. Dating do I want to? Do I really want to meet someone and why can't I...?

1. Raise my child as a single mum without the encumbrance of a male who may possibly a. be out to just get a free ride - have a lady work and support him. Don't I have enough to do with my child and my child's care b. be a pedophile and just out to get close to me to abuse my son c. be another disaster and why do I need to go for another disaster when I have had enough to last a life time given my age d. be damaging to both my son and I I think people are very uncomfortable with single mothers... A day

at a time slight movements ripple and grow from each seed we sow from a small drop of water bigger waves develop tall oaks soar up rolling rings ever outward to become a tsunami of sound waves of thought, leaves rustling life is bustling on. We need nearness to G-d To hold on to the lifeboat Time, Time and space gives us all A Place to Be! Sign in to see full entry.

My friend's mum passed away last night

Poor thing, her suffering has ended. Stomach cancer is the most awful death. We should all merit to pass quickly in our sleep. It is a good reason never to go to bed with some sort of dispute between close family or anyone for that matter. I want to have peace with all and when I go no one feels bad and I can go on one day to the next world or dimension what ever knowing that I left this world cleanly. Funeral is today at 1pm and I am about to leave. Av simchas! Sign in to see full entry.

Is it me, or is it the world we live in? Two Timing examined...

I watched a movie today with a friend and I was shocked by it. It is with Dianne Keaton and is 'Because I said so'. This mother is trying to find a suitable partner for her daughter. She is a single mother with three grown up daughters and one of them Milly gets herself into all sorts of emotional tangles over men. Well to cut a long story short she starts dating both guys and yes, you guessed it - 'she has sex with both of them??' I nearly said sleeps but sleeping is the last thing they did. Am...
