Don't You Just Hate It When.......

This is why I hate talking on the phone so much. Our AC froze up yesterday and Jay called a repair guy from the studio that in turn called the home and got me! After we talked a little bit and he asked me a question to which I answered, “I have no idea." The man asked, "Have you been drinkin’???" I told him, "No, I have Parkinson's and it's the way I talk all the time." He apologized and his voice took on a more serious tone. I told him to call Jay for more information and gave him the number.... Sign in to see full entry.

Parkinson's Hazardous to Marriage!

My husband and I had a doozey of a fight last night. We didn’t go to bed mad, but definitely we were both unsettled by what had been said and what had transpired between us. I had serious doubts last night about our marriage making it to year 30, so I got up after not being able to sleep even with all the snoozy meds I had ingested (including AmbienCR and the new Rozerem.) I went to my computer and wrote about it. It served as a point of discussion for several hours this morning. Does a chronic... Sign in to see full entry.

Controlling Parkinson's

I am including a link for those who wish to read by story of Parkinson's Disease and how I have benefitted from something called DBS, which stands for Deep Brain Surgery. (I did not write the story!)(But it's still an infomative article!) http://www.kumed.com/documents/2002%2010-11.pdf Thanks for reading! Only wish I could educate more and more people. NEW! Drug for Parkinson's

This is the first new drug released for treatment of Parkinson's since 2003. The name of the drug is called Azilect. It blocks the breakdown of dopamine, which is instrumental in allowing muscles to move smoothly. If you're familiar with Eldepryl, this is in the genre of drugs known as MAO inhibitors. I saw the article in our paper the same day as my Parkinson's appointment. I was told I can try it out if I want. At my late stage, it would give me an overall good feeling. The drug also reduces... How did YOU "get" Parkinson's Anyway?

Angel said, shortly before she left Blogit, that comment pages could take on a personality of their own. There is much truth to that. I started to respond to another of FactorFiction’s comments, again. She said she was bruised as a pincushion. That got me started on today’s topic – how I got from here to there – maybe. My daughter takes daily injections (SubQ) of HGH (human growth hormone.) I tried that for two years and feel like it was on it's way to healing a lot of my health issues. My... I'm Wired!

I had a comment from FactorFiction that she had no idea they did this wiring for Parkinson's Disease. That gives me a chance to say I just celebrated my Seven Year Re-Birth Day. I had the first part of the two-part surgery May 20, 1999, where they drilled two holes in the top of my head to insert wires. The right side of the brain controls movement on the left side of the body and vice versa with the other side, thus requiring two holes, two wires. I have different symptoms on each side of my... "I'm Still Battery Operated"

Jay's Step-Dad passed away last week. I do have a good excuse for being away from the keyboard for so long. We had a death in the family. Today and tomorrow I have or have had my neurology appointments. I will go in for surgery in 6 months, as I need a new battery. I was told once the battery starts to "die," they go down pretty fast. Until then I'm still standing strong. But there goes the long hair, unless I can get by with a partial head shave. Maybe they'll leave the long part put above the... Sign in to see full entry.

“Jimmy V ‘n Me”

Quote #1: “To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two--spend some time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think, and cry, that's a heck of a day." Quote #2 “Cancer can take away all my physical ability. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever.” Quote #3: “How do you go from where you are to where you... Sign in to see full entry.

"You Can't Run in Place"

Quote #6 by Jim Valvano No matter what business you're in, you can't run in place or someone will pass you by. It doesn't matter how many games you've won. Isn’t this the truth! My husband and I earn our living by owning our own photography studio. My husband struggles with this concept of putting on his “business running shoes” every day. Jimmy V ’ n me would agree that you can’t rely on the status quo. There IS no such thing. If you’re not moving ahead, you’re falling behind. Sign in to see full entry.

"He Believed in Me"

Quote #5: “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me.” ~~ Jim Valvano ~~ My f riend, Mike, thanked me for believing in him. He thought my memory of how he used to be as a young man in college was remembered through my “rose colored glasses.” It wasn’t until he dug through his garage archives and found some audio tapes he'd made back in the 70's, talking about some of his adventures. That's when it started to sink in, what I'd been telling him. He... Sign in to see full entry.
