Morning Treats

This morning I was up at 6 AM. I decided to get dressed, put on my walking shoes and took Aloe for a walk. Prakash the cook was in the kitchen, making tea. I put the leash on Aloe and stepped out of the gate into the street. It was a strange morning. Misty and cool, with a slight from the western... Sign in to see full entry.

Stufff, stuff and stuff

What do you do with all the stuff you have? It's a beautiful sunny and slightly warm day. All the guests have gone and the house is back to normal - whatever that is. It's time to put away the winter clothes, shoes, socks, caps, that line the daily use closets. I take them all down from the hangers... Sign in to see full entry.

Over the Hill - the Beauty Business

Yesterday evening, before Agnes and Derk left to return to Amsterdam, we watched a documentary Agnes had brought for me. It is called Over the Hill and made by a Dutch woman, Sunny Bergman. The two good ones, Mahesh and I had seen. The one that remained was three hours and 40 minutes long. Would they like... Sign in to see full entry.

Appreciating the Old

One of nicer things about going out of the city is that it's still possible to capture glimpses of a lifestyle that is on its way out. Driving up to the mountains last week, it was sugarcane harvesting time. Various kinds of transport - bullock carts, tractors, trucks - piled high with the cane were... Sign in to see full entry.

Fruit in Blue and Pine Trees

The last blog entry was seven days ago. During this time I have had a house full of guests and taken a short trip to the hills. My house guests Agnes and Derk both got the mild viral that is moving around Delhi and were down for about three days each. Once they recovered they got on a plane for... Sign in to see full entry.

The challenges to blogging

It's 6 PM and the sun is going down. Should I blog or not? I just made myself a cup of tea and a bowl of biscuits and came up to the computer. I have been gone all morning - to the diet clinic, dropping Mahesh to a meeting, buying pots for the garden (at least a month overdue), lunch and shopping... Sign in to see full entry.

The China Kitchen

Last night we had dinner at a new restaurant called The China Kitchen. A friend - Geeta - called earlier in the week to ask if Mahesh and I would be available for dinner this weekend or the next. Although we have a house full of guests, I said yes. She went on to say that her son Subeer, was working... Sign in to see full entry.
