Tremendous winds at night

This mother nature in this setting is overwhelming. We had 60 mph winds last night (Saturday) that rocked the porches, turned over porch chairs and whistled into every possible place. The sounds were intense and the temperature fell to the fifties. It is Sunday evening and the moonlight has... Sign in to see full entry.

Dawn has just broken

I sit here with the East exposure and watch the sun rise as many morning as possible. Today seems quite nice and a good rest helps the disposition. I saw a fascinating light last evening across the desert. It appeared to be a near neighbor but it was in the wrong position. We can get campers who are... Sign in to see full entry.

Feeling somewhat like a milkshake today

I don't know whether I should be up or down or shaken around! I started off at 6 A.M.We did some shopping. We had a wonderful homemade pizza and it was terrific. M learned to make pizza in Chicago. He learned well. Later I collapsed into a book about early settlers in the colonies of America. Well... Sign in to see full entry.

I am in love again,,

I have rediscovered the art of bargain hunting. Today I found a floor lamp for a mere $15.00 and it even had a bulb that works and a clean shade. I purchased more Christmas decorations, this time a candle holder that is made to look like a candy house. As I ponder on these seasonal things I am... Sign in to see full entry.

The Noses Have It!

Have you ever looked at the faces of people in a crowd? Do you say to yourself, wow that person looks like he could be my relative? I could recognize some of my mother's cousins by their eyes, skin tones or freckles. There were other indicators of my family ties "not so pretty ears." lol As we grow... Sign in to see full entry.

American History

I think American History is being placed in the back of the bus! We evidentally don't teach our students the name of the first President nor when he served. Just watch a little TV and it will shock you to hear interviews and comedians discussing what they have heard about our knowledge of history.... Sign in to see full entry.

An Angel of Mercy

We grow up with the idea that there are good people looking after us. The adults provided what we needed, including home, food, clothing etc. As we grow older we realize things don't happen automatically. Some months ago I mentioned a long time friend who just showed up one day and we went to... Sign in to see full entry.

A stranger's eyes

I met a remarkable man today,I'll call him Sam. He is a tall dark man with American Indian and Mexican ancestors. He had shinny eyes that seem to be holding back tears. He extended his hand to me and the expression from those eyes let me know he was kindly disposed. His enormous hands bore the signs... Sign in to see full entry.

Love in the air, breathing it in all the time..

Tender and sweet the sounds of the wind and the prospect of a clear and sunny day set us out for Saturday adventures. My love and I started out at 8:30 a.m. to seek our fortune, so to speak. Have you recently gone searching for bargains at a yard sale? What fun to talk to people and have the... Sign in to see full entry.

What Rattlesnake?

Here I am a girl from the East, settling down in the desert. I have been collecting interesting looking downed slender branches from Ocotillo shrubs. I wander about looking for interesting colored stones and rocks. I stay for extended periods. While I am walking about, I see homes in the distance,... Sign in to see full entry.
