IN RESPONSE TO ARIAL'S "TO THOSE WHO WAIT"

I read Arial's blog about change and the ability or inability to make it happen any sooner. My daughter who is a substance abuse counselor gave me the Serenity Prayer on a keychain a few years ago. I told her it had gotten me through a lot of stuff. She said she says it every day with the women she... Sign in to see full entry.

EMOTIONAL COUPLE OF DAYS

I have a lot of hope right now. I think it's awesome that we had Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday as a prelude to Barak Obama being sworn in as 44th president of our great United States. I think we need the hope that both these men convey. We have needed unity and hope for a long time now. These... Sign in to see full entry.

SNARKY DELL LAPTOP

I have a Dell Studio laptop, which really I like a lot. However, it often has problems booting up. Today, it took 6 attempts. That makes me feel snarky. My husband spent several hours one day downloading patches and updates, etc., for it. It appeared to boot up better. Today, it's feeling snarky and... Sign in to see full entry.

MATERNAL PROFILING

“Maternal Profiling” I had never heard this term before until I read an article in Parade Magazine that was included in my Sunday paper. Pyramid shape of the news industry. As I see it.

The base is the bloggers and the content developers. No need for newswires from the smaller city newspapers and reporters in town or around the globe. News conglomerate editors simply need to log on and get connected to the minutest detail of news in the farthest reaches of the world. Someone... Sign in to see full entry.

Obama's Ethics

Obama's Ethics Does anyone else but me wonder about what challenges Obama faces with regards to his ethics? Having worked in a large company where I experienced ethical dilemmas on a sporadic basis to running for office in local government (and a very small one, at that) and being confronted with... VA TELLS MY DAD HE WASN'T "REALLY" A COMBAT VETERAN

VA Tells my dad he wasn’t really a combat vet I’m 50. My dad is 77. When I was little, my brothers and I had to talk in my dad’s “good ear.” His bad ear was the one that was damaged when a device exploded next to him on the front in Korea. He happened to be within the range of the arc when it... Sign in to see full entry.

SNARKY MICROSOFT WORD

Snarky. I love this word. It’s been appearing more and more lately in conversation and print. I suppose it will become overused and cease to exist for another generation or two. In checking www.dictionary.com for its meaning, I see that it is British slang. “Are you feeling snarky, baby?” I’m snarky... Sign in to see full entry.
