Dilemmas Always Confront Us in the Fragile World: Example Grocery Bags

It was not too many years ago I remember seeing a commercial stating the wonders of plastic. Of course, it was sponsored by the Amercian Plastics Council ( I do not remember the name precisely). Now plastic bags are so politically incorrect, that I suspect such a commercial would make not positive... Sign in to see full entry.

"You are entering Gobblelguke Land"

Yesterday on the computer I was surprised and annoyed with was happened when I was looking at my blogs. Gobbleguke dotted itself in my blog texts only. Where there were supposed to be spaces in many of my texts there instead were "A" letters with upside down wings overhead. Where there were supposed... Sign in to see full entry.

Different Definitions of 'Martyr'

I overheard in a news report today referring to a Muslim suicidal bomber as a 'martyr.' That is a warped definition if you ask me. This is very different from a Christian who stands up for his or her beliefs and is even willing to be tortured, lose limbs, and suffer an excruciating death. That is... Sign in to see full entry.

Many Factors to Consider When Moving

My moving situation alone entails many factors, so I cannot pretend to address and breach all the factors that go into moving in general. I am moving from one apartment to another. Downsizing. Hard to do when you become accustomed to what you have. Two of my attachments are my cats; I don't see... Sign in to see full entry.

Does Godlessness Come in Cycles Or Always Just Increasing?

When I hear people around me dismissing God as an explanation of things or, perhaps even worse, talking without the slightest acknowledgement that God is relevant, I began to wonder if people more and more are turning to godlessness. It is tempting to think this, but looking back through history may... Sign in to see full entry.

Theft at Work

It is a shame that those with whom we work, day in a day out, quite often become the thieves of our tools. I have been victimized in such a way. At the most, it takes a lot of gall to take someone else's belongings if done so deliberately. At the very least, it is thoughtless to hold someone else's... Sign in to see full entry.

What a Day at Work

I knew it was going to be one of those days whenso many were missing work due to illness. Then there was a thinning among those of us who showed. One guy went home when to me he did not seem to be that sick. Meanwhile, I was slow to relearn a certain machine. About the only thing I did right was... Sign in to see full entry.

The Importance of Medical Screenings

I recently received the final, full analysis of my colonoscopy. I had a polyp that was an adenoma, which has the potential to become a precancerous lesion. The polyp was removed and its danger with it; however, I am going to follow the doctor's advice to have my next colonoscopy in five years. It is... Sign in to see full entry.

Why does it Annoy Me?

My weekend routine has been to listen to CBC radio. But when the Jonathan Goldstein program, Wiretap, comes on, I turn it off. He annoys me. He makes me just want to say "Oh, shut up." Why? A book I was reading today helped give me insight into my annoance. The book, The Anthologist by Nicholson... Sign in to see full entry.

Is There Anything Besides TV?

Many people, I am sure, would feel at loss if they didn't have TV. They watch reality programs, cop shows, sit-coms, talk shows, etc. But I know people, including myself, who never converted the TV set to digital. We are a group of people who use our TVs as a monitor for DVDs. Then, of course, in... Sign in to see full entry.
