I think she just didn't know what to say. It's evident you have risen above your infliction. (My daughter has a disability and we never allowed it to be a crutch but to embrace her difference and see what she could accomplish. She has her own business and expecting her first child). I love how your faith and Toastmasters has been a great part and influence in your life. We should never be judged by our limitation and given perceived pity. I think if the gal had it to do again she would respond differently!

Good morning. She may have been unsure of how to respond to your statement. Not everyone comes equipped with well-thought-out responses, so they need to be taught what to say in a situation like the one she was in. Hopefully, you informed her there was no need to be sorry.
