- Go to Hands on the Elephant - Part Three ~ 1300 Words
Thank you!
I appreciate your words. I did a lot of research, and found that chapters in most published stories are between 900 - 1600 words. If I stay near the middle of those numbers, most readers feel comfortable. Somewhere along this story, you will see at least two chapters that are much shorter, but you will also see at least one chapter that will push 2000+ words. I write until I think I can safely end the story curve. If I get too long, some readers will get bored.
As a kid at age 8 and 9, I read incessantly. I was a student librarian from third grade, all the way through my last year getting my Bachelor's degree in college. I loved to read, which quite naturally led me to write. I wrote my first 'published story; as a second grader. It appeared in the junior high weekly mimeographed 'weekly' paper,' and after that, I was published by all the 'newspapers' in elementary through college.
I love writing as you might plainly see!
THANK YOU!!

Memory, if only one could pick and choose. A nice gentle flow to the words. Almost if the author was the characters.
