Old Suzy was a hilarious touch! Such fond memories. I remember picking strawberries for money to 45's back in the day. I think they were 50 cents then. A couple of hours in the field got at least 6 of the records if one picked quickly. We were paid by the flat. Lol

We did plums, big yellow ones. Kilner Jars It took a long time four jars over a primus.

Mother also made jam which sold quite steadily. I remember the wasps flying over her as she stirred the jam. A wonder one or two did not get a hot reception.🌺

Pat....

I don't remember picking peaches....but I can certainly remember picking cherries, pears and apples  out of the trees and lots of things from the garden.    But I told her not to summon me when it was chicken killing time.  I told Mom and Dad I refused to kill, pluck or cut up one of our chickens, and I don't think I ever have.

What a great memory! I remember my mom telling me how her mother would do similar preserving/canning of items but my mother never did do that. The peaches must have been great to eat.

Good Afternoon

Pat, I wish I had a jar of those peaches.  They are so good.  My family would pick peaches too!  I hope you have a good day!

Good morning. I never get tired of your stories. Peaches are one of my favorites. Your post took me back to my junior high school days when my mom taught me how to make blackberry preserves and can them in Mason jars. Midsummer, we always went blackberry picking for the them since they grew wild everywhere in western Oregon. We made a blackberry pie, and the rest were used for jam.

Good morning. How ironic that I am currently reading a book about Orchard Valley, Oregon. The book was written by Debbie Macomber. Orchard Valley Grooms — Debbie Macomber
