Sounds like a good story. It might be good to give a brief history of the Desert Rats for us city folks. Before reading, I thought it would be an animal story. LOL

When you mentioned Lewis and Clark I got all itchy because they were bombarded by mosquitoes on their expedition. My take is this has a story to it. Add in a storm, a mail order bride with a history,  bring falsely accused of something horrendous and clever way to store firewood and innovative shelter...

Good Evening

Pat, thanks for sharing this story.  I hope you have a good evening.  Happy 4th of July!  It's quiet here, but the random fireworks have not started yet.  It will get loud, and Sadie will go under the bed where she feels safe.

It’s an idea with possibilities. You are alway thinking up new stories and I applaud you for that. Happy Fourth.

Good morning. I enjoy stories about the early pioneers and frontier days. Lewis & Clark has Pittsburgh connections. The duo were visitors to the boatyard in Elizabeth Borough, where I live. The Monongahela River runs behind my house. Happy 4th of July to you.
