The reason stories don’t do well is that people only have a short amount of time to devote to reading them here, I think. My nephew told me short snippets hold a persons attention span these days. I will keep my posts shorter, but it’s hard sometimes.

I am sure your story will be a delight! I loved fairy stories my mom would tell me. Those and the elven ones always got our attention. We believed, too, when we were little. As for spelling - editing can come later. 🌹

I would really love too. but at the moment I am rewriting a Fairy story for a little a little girl who still believes. I am so poor at spelling and it is a relief to have words corrected by the computer. Hush! don't tell anyone.🌺

A wonderfully rambling, very English slice of life. I enjoyed how it wandered from rusty spades and practical tools into ritual, memory, and quiet absurdity. The dialogue feels almost theatrical at times, especially the tea-table exchanges, and Albert’s earnestness at the end is a lovely note to finish on. It reads like tradition rubbing shoulders with modernity—mud on the boots, prayers at the door, and wine smuggled between brussels sprouts. Quietly amusing and oddly comforting.

This is a classic. I like to put jigsaw puzzles that offer a mystery. This one has all the fiber of such a puzzle we just need a 'who done it' factored in! Great piece! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
