Re: FSI
You are right. Some of those memories are burned into our minds. What we do with them is our choice. The good we relish, the not-so-good, we put away. Thank you.

Re: BearcatMike
Thank you. You are correct. My parents were great and tried to help us learn to navigate this world. All a parent can do is try to teach a child as much as possible about life. Yes, I do have a much better understanding now: hindsight.

Re: CCT
I'm just glad you're back. Hope you are feeling okay. Yes, the memories remain though the times pass on. And those memories we forget, perhaps it's just as well sometimes.

Re: Good Morning, Goldie
Thank you. Mother was a strong woman, and Dad was even stronger. Yes, he was very likeable, very sweet and kind. People liked my parents, and me, being their kid, was always slightly amazed at that. My sis is more like my mom than I, and I am still and always will be a Daddy's Girl. You are right when you say what my mom knew. None of her children were easy to bring up, as we were all headstrong to a degree.

I like your use of a narrator in this story. It gives it ownership and personalizes it, too. I'm enjoying the read!

Those memories from when we are super young burn themselves onto our minds. I remember the first time I saw my father cry.

I must say I am enjoying your story. When we are young, there are so many things that we don't understand. You had a great mom who took the time to explain how to overcome obstacles to you. Which is not always the case. Now, as you look back and you have more experience, you have a better understanding of what she was trying to do for you. Good story.

Having been away I did not see these heartfelt episodes .
Sometimes one can look back and wonder.
Of course we may tend to wonder at that time
when one is young why people do not explain
more thoroughly reasons for tears and sadness.
I guess we all go through times one would rather
forget but it is still all there and some just cannot remember.🌷

You certainly do draw a person in and make them want more and faster. More, more.

Good Morning
Sea Gypsy, I loved "Do You Remember My Mother?" There is a wealth of detail on feelings, and I loved that. I would have to say your Mom was a strong woman, and you are like her. I think memories can be hard at times, but you went into so much detail that I really appreciated it when I was reading your draft. I can imagine how you felt as a twelve-year-old. I had to smile because this reminded me so much of you and the person you are. It shows the strength and determination you have. I can see you standing by your Mom's side during a difficult time. From what I've read up to this point, I really like your Dad. In my summary, I would say you are a force to be reckoned with, and your Mom knew this. I love it.
