That's a tough one. After several close calls and a few accidents, my mother-in-law came unglued at the hinges when we suggested she needed to quit driving. Confused smile

Oh, it’s hard to take the keys! I remember us taking them from my great-uncle who lived with us! Fortunately, or not, my dad lost his vision so much that he gave up his own keys.

I think you are correct after your observations. For their sake I hope he does the right thing.

I started driving at 4. At three I used to steer the truck, but I could drive it at 4. Drove all my life and had no problems in Canada. However when I came here, a new city I didn't know and Jim was so competent I said no don't want to do that again; not here.

Sadly most give up driving after an accident or even a near one. Here there now is a referral to a memory clinic if one can ever get to see a doctor or try not too.

FSI.....

It is not easy for a person to make the decision to stop driving.  I know from experience.   So much of a person's identity and freedom and taking care of ourselves is wrapped around the freedom to come and go at a moment's notice.  I watched my Dad go through that.  I had to go to court with him for two different accidents that he had, also he got lost a couple of times and police guided him back home.

Good Morning

FSI, I'm so thankful that nobody was hurt.
