I thought that too. It was a study out of Japan, though I imagine there are others. I think, after reading the papers on it, that it should apply to scent in general for anyone. Pleasant was tested but it could work with an unpleasant scent perhaps. The thought appeared to be that the brain is stimulated in different areas which cause another area...yeah. I don't know.
