That was a scary time period for sure. Not knowing is the hardest part.
When I was six, my mother had a hernia go through her bowels. She was in pain. I did not realize how touch and go things were.

Oh, Wow.....
Mother was always the rock of our family with seven children and my Dad going to work every day. I can't imagine my childhood without mother. She lived until almost 90.

That would definitely be something you would never ever forget. The great thing is that she survived. When you look back on those days. You remember how hard life was. Transportation in many areas for emergencies was no easy task. Resources were not readily available like they are today. That was truly a blessing that your father was able to get the blood in a somewhat timely manner.

Maybe they were not sure how things would turn out, so were wary about saying anything to her little girl? I remember in those days, children were not told a lot, and adults would often mention that 'little jugs have big ears'.

Emotion like this is often remembered when one is under stress I think you have probably suffered more than most, so you can deal with it hopefully better than most. I hope you can sleep, I would sing you a lullaby, but I can't sing.🌺🌺

A scary time for a young person. I had a blood transfusion when I was a kid. Thank goodness for the wonderful people who donate life-saving blood.

That kind of scary situation is worse when nobody tells you what's going on. As your post shows, the fear stays in your memory forever. Good that you can also remember she came home, and things were all right again. What tough fighters we have to be sometimes.
