I remember saying to my Dad when I was about ten. "If I hadn't been born I wouldn't know anything about it." . He looked at me and said "Don't talk so bloody silly.' 🌺

I feel what you had is a normal reaction for the youngest sibling. For the parents, the reality of being an empty-nester looks real.

The sun is playing hide and seek in my neck of the woods. The universe is so amazing. My sister is 14 years older than me. We have gotten closer in my 60s than we were when I was younger. Yet we visited each other and kept in touch. I also finally connected with my half-brothers about 5 years ago. I knew about them, but I never really wanted to reach out. I was a loner when I was younger. Family relationships are unpredictable. Family is where you make it.Â

It's a shame you two couldn't have been closer. Age gaps between siblings can be difficult when you are young. My youngest and oldest daughters have an eight-year age gap. To this day, they are not close. I was an only child until I was 18. My mom remarried, and along came my brother. Then, when I was 23, I found out that I had two sisters. Then, at age 58, I found out I had even more sisters. My sisters are through my Dad, and they found me through Ancestry.com. Even though we didn't grow up together, we have become close through visits. Thankfully, they live just five hours from me.
