We had a ferocious dog when I and our Gutlu the dog grew up together. He was such a good hunter in his initial days - full of pranks. Later, he turned mature and calm, but serious looking, lithe and strong. Sadly, he was shot dead on the street by an imbecile folk and that sight stayed etched in my memory all my life. Still miss him

Dogs used to run free when I was a boy no wonder there were a lot of puppies. Lovely reminder of days that seem so different now.🌺

There is nothing like the loyalty of a dog. Nice story.
You have me wanting to now listen to "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown." "Meaner than a junkyard dog."

This is such a sweet story. Dogs are simply awesome companions. I grew up with a black wiener dog named Digger. They do have some big ears. She chewed my mom's high heels and the new linoleum in our laundry room before she grew out of her puppy stage and chilled out.

Have you heard about the little wiener dog who spent over a year alone on an Australian island? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05-07/valerie-dachshund-reunited-owners-after-540-days-lost/105263470

When I think of a junkyard dog, I don't picture a little wiener dog - more like a mastiff or a ferocious pit bull. But I've seen docile and sweet pit bulls and terrifying ankle-biting dachshunds, so I guess it's time to let go of the cliche. A good dog is a precious member of the family...
