Re: Pat
Yes, I never saw horses that muddied up after a race!

Re:
My dad said that all of our thoroughbreds originate from England. I think he was right. ❓🤔

Re:
How lucky to live close enough to go there! Yes, that horse had heart, as they say.

Re: TAPS
Ehm, may I venture to guess that Amigo was no friend to you? 🤣
My cousin and I took riding lessons way back. My first lesson was on a former dressage horse and it was a jumper. Went straight for a fence and the instructor caught it by the reins just in the nick of time or I’d have been thrown.

Sea-Gypsy.....
.....There is certainly something fascinating about a beautiful, fast horse. When I was younger I used to ride. I stopped riding after my last time because the feisty horse named "Amigo" kept trying to rub me off against trees along the trail.

Wow! That horse has some stamina. I just read that in the 1973 Kentucky Derby, Secretariat set the fastest Derby time ever posted, getting through the one-and-a-quarter mile track in 1:59.40. Over 50 years later, that record still stands, and the legendary racehorse nicknamed "Big Red" is, incredibly, an ancestor of each horse competing in the 2025 Kentucky Derby. I don't live that far from the yearly event. I will have to make the trip one of these years. 🐴

How wonderful that racing lives on in this beautiful country, with big red's genes!

I watched that race - the muddiest finish ever - horses and jockeys all splattered with mud, but they did it. I didn't realize until later that all the horses were Secretariat's grandchildren.

Wonderful looking horse. It would have been a shame to lose those genes.🦋

Re: Good Evening,Goldie!
Same here. I enjoyed the whole afternoon of it! It was just about the sloppiest track I ever saw! I was worried a horse might get injured.

Good Evening
Wow! That is amazing! I watched the Kentucky Derby and waited all day for the horses to race. It was a muddy mess, but I loved the race.
