Well Kabu I have started to hang my clothes on a line outside again now it is Summer. Not for the last two days as it has been raining. Once I had or found from somewhere a kind of copper dial on a stick. It was used when washing clothes one pumped it up and down in the copper. I never used it but gave it to someone as an antique. Hope you feel better take my advice stay away from crowds. If we had a sick chicken in a flock we quickly knocked it out and took it to the butcher. 🌺🌺🌺

Precious Memories

My grandmother used to wash her clothes almost every day and hang them on the line. She had power, but she used the old ringer washer, and when it didn't work, she used the scrubboard. My wife and I, many years ago, rented a house that didn't have a dryer.  We hung our clothes on the line. I appreciate the modern age.

There is still a clothesline at my house. It's from my grandmother's era from many moons ago.

Good afternoon

I have heard that Mondays are wash days. My grandmother had a wringer washer. I still hang my clothes, but I'm sure my work is nothing like what your mum went through. I am ever so thankful for modern conveniences. Regular smile

We didn't have the power issues that your dad took care of, but we did drag a wringer washer into the kitchen, fill it with hot water using buckets at the kitchen sink - after the wash was done Mom attached a hose to drain the machine & water the garden with the soapy water - (not detergent, but Ivory soap flakes for the laundry). We hung the clothes on the line outdoors unless it rained, and then we had lines on the back porch. Those were the days!

Good Afternoon

Kabu, I give your Mom credit because that was a long day for her.  I'm not sure what I would do if I had to do all that your Mom did.  I love the convenience of washing my clothes and putting them in the dryer.  I do have things that I will hang out on the line though.  I have to say your family was truly blessed to have your Mom.
