Growing up, we had Morning Doves.  We named them Robert and Melon.

Your squirrel pups are probably 'teen-agers' and have left the family nest for their higher education experiences - frat parties (squirrel style) and study sessions.  I had a mama robin who thought she owned my front porch at one time, but after the tree was trimmed, no nest that was close enough. It's good that we can share their world and learn a bit of their culture.
