One wonders what it entails it does seem a bit abstract . As you say if he is on call night and day.

I can't think of many jobs where you are your own boss where the hours would suit him unless he perhaps bought a taxi. mostly as you know when you are the boss in a small business of any sort, you have to be on call virtually all the time and forget holidays for years until you get the right workers like dad has.

Good afternoon
I can't imagine an elevator mechanic having a busy schedule unless he is in charge of fixing all the ones in an entire city.
