Yes it is a sad thing in a way, but you don't want to pass it on.
I cannot understand why it hit Jim so harshly.
I suppose there are a myriad type of different germs.

I hope you feel much lighter in your mind as you get rid of all the extra stuff that's been clogging up your storage areas. And I hope you and Jim are feeling like yourselves again before your kids arrive. It will be a joyful time even if you do decide to put them up in a hotel, but how sweet to have them breakfast with you. Fingers crossed for good weather.
