Centuries ago Christians celebrated and overindulged on Tuesday - the day before Lent begins. They indulged in alcohol and food to the hearts delight because Lent was a time of giving up drinking and no meat on Fridays etc. So it became known as Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday.

I never did understand why Fat Tuesday...

.....It seems for some folks everyday is fat.   But I love the decorated owl.
