Good evening
I just finished watering all of my flowers and vegetables. It has been hot and miserable here for the past few days, leaving my plants desperate for a good drink of water.

Air conditioning is worth its weight in gold, especially when it is so darn hot outside.
My paternal grandmother, who during her teen years, first experienced The Great Depression was furious when my father gave her a window air conditioner for her bedroom. She refused the gift.

We had no A/C in our house but managed with exhaust fans taking the
hot air out the windows and pulling a breeze through the house. Daytimes were sometimes miserable, but the really tough stuff was getting to sleep in all the heat and humidity. So grateful to have air conditioning today - heat index right now is 107 - although the actual temp is only about 92.

Back then, we had a two and a half story that window units would only reall work for one room. We tried just about everything and nothing really worked well in really hot weather. I never had central air at home until I was 50 and moved out of the big house. That big old house was hot in the summer and cold in the winter but spring and fall were great.
