I know what it is like fighting something you don't want in your yard and garden. Ours never went away completely even though we wore hou several weed whackers.

Good afternoon
Some ground covers are truly horrifying in that they spread like wildfire. I particularly love Alyssum. It is soft and pretty and grows at a slower pace, and it allows for other flowers to steal the show.
