Re: Taps
I do vaguely remember you writing about your brother. I know he was inventive, perhaps one day you will repeat your previous recollection.

Re: Kabu
Yes Kabu, we always kept chickens and living in the country afforded a few extras. It was sweet rationing that hurt. Probably better not having them though.

Re: Pat
I expect he did a better job than I did. Interesting phrase.

Re: Sea Gypsy
Thank you I can see them now waving as I raced off on my bicycle. It was a job to
get anything metal at that time and the tin kettles were used mostly on open fires,
It does seem unbelievable now.

How I loved this poem telling of thr couple who didn't have a way to get their tea and a boy who fixed their problem Who had problems of his own trying to do so! In thr US we forget how important tea time was/is in Britain. Really well done.

Brings back memories. There used to be a traveling man who made
repairs, back when I was a little kid. It was during the war years and kettles had to be patched because the metal was going to making tanks and weaponry. It's when I first heard mama use the phrase "tinker's dam."Â

I loved this especially with its happy ending. being born at the end of the war I never felt deprived of what we needed but times were more simple and the farm kept us fed healthy.

Good afternoon
Thanks for the cute little ditty. As for the taste of licking paint, ugh!

It definitely sounds like the days of my childhood. You brought back memories of my brother and what he used to do. He's been gone for 55 years but you brought him back.
