One thing there is not the virus to concern one at present. Old age is not for the

squeamish. I had a job to get out of the chair when I had polymyalgia. So I raised it

on four stands. THe Doctor the little rabbit wants me to come off of steriods. She did

say I would have to be on 5mg for life but has now changed her tune. I don't know

what advice to give, you obviously know more about your condition than I do. You

are comparatively young for being an old un.

That is a tough decision to make as to whether or not to go under the knife. I wish you well in making your decision.

Good morning

My grandmother developed a hiatus hernia when she was in her late fifties. It eventually became really problematic for her. Eventually, a large bulge formed on her stomach at the site of her hernia. Not having it removed can become serious. She ignored surgery and suffered greatly, and eventually passed away at the young age of 63. I was so angry that she didn't listen to the doctor's advice. I pray that you get through this. You are a young 78 and the surgery is performed using minimally-invasive techniques and recovery is relatively quick. (((Hugs)))

For anyone getting to be my age, it definitely is not boring.  It makes me check off things:  cane or walker, heating pad, grabbers, non-spill mug, tissues, etc., etc., laptop, good book, snack, .....before I ever sit down.

No worries - you're never boring. I can sympathize with Jim and his

knees, and gazing sadly at glasses out of reach. And like you, the thought of surgery is one big reason to resist medical advice. I know you'll do what needs to be done to keep yourself in good working order.
