I have never asked Florida Son how much they paid to have their kitchen and dining area completely re-done. I don't think I even want to know (and Son did a whole lot of the work himself). I love sunflowers. I love the cardinals that come to eat all the seeds out of them.

I was so lucky in Canada. Nothing ate my sunflowers until they were dying away and none of the deer around every ate my Tulips. Trish's husband hated me because the deer ate all Trish's tulips and never touched mine!

My next door neighbor at the house where I raised my kids was a
75-year-old retired carpenter when we moved there in 1966. Walter was a man who could fix things, still climbed ladders to clean his gutters at the age of 99, until his grandkids got worried and made him stop... He raised sunflowers every year, and they grew to a height of 9 or 10 feet tall. The seed pans were the size of dinner plates, and they turned to follow the sun from east to west during the day. Each fall when harvest time came, he'd dry the seeds on a screen he had laid over a couple of sawhorses. Of course he had to spend a lot of time out there, chasing squirrels away. Your story of the sunflowers reminded me of this... He was awesome!

Good morning
Your view of your yard sounds lovely. I planted sunflowers last year, but they have not come back this year. I absolutely love them almost as much as the birds do. I have found that kitchen and bathroom renovations, followed by roofing are the most expensive when it comes to updates. My mother paid almost $50,000 for her new kitchen in Carson City. Of course, it was almost completely gutted, but still, that is a lot of money. Enjoy your day.

There are a few places where the sunflowers bloom. They attract so many people getting photographs and looking at them. They are wonderful plants.
