- Go to One Of Those Night Shift Things...
Whether documented as a fact or not, I believe that any of us who have mostly worked during the night or very early AM can't easily shed the habit. Like you, I don't stay in bed waiting to go back to sleep. I get up and, in truth, it is my favorite part of the day.

I use a face mask. I also have some hypnosis recordings that I can listen to if I can't sleep.

I am not too bad at sleeping. Sorry just woke up whilst reading Blogit.
I must not get in that bad habit of sleeping after lunch only old men do that.
Those who have passed that stage know the secret. Don't sit down.

I never did any more night shifts than I had to. I couldn't sleep through the day and it ruined my patterns of sleep time. Did What I had to, no more. There were adventures though.

Re: FSI
You are probably right. No one forced me to take the night shift, I chose it.

It's in your blood to be up at night. We had an employee, Eric Redman, who was used to get up at 4 in the morning. For a long time, even after he retired from his utility inspector job, he would do that.

Some nights are like that - sleep evades us. Makes the next day a
long foggy tunnel, too. I hope you can catch a nap.

My sister came and stayed for two nights, Taps, over Easter. It was a nice visit, apart from the fact that I could not get to sleep and spent two restless nights. I am only three years older than she is, and in better overall health - but - I am the quiet type, generally, and she talks non-stop. Could my brain have been over-stimulated?
Needless to say, this was at my house; it just isn't practical to have anyone stay at my partner's place, so could I have been missing him?
Don't think so (although I did miss him) .. this week, he and his son are away for two nights, I am at my home and I have slept very well, in spite of a nasty cough I have picked up somewhere.
